Communities In Schools of Tacoma

Bank to Bay supports Communities In Schools of Tacoma.

Communities In Schools of Tacoma Bank to Bay proudly supported the Tacoma Public Schools Help-a-Student Fund for nine years by donating $90,000 to this worthwhile cause. Communities In Schools of Tacoma was selected as the 2009 and 2010 charity with $15,000 donated in 2009 and a minimum of $10,000 committed for this year. This organization also has strong core beliefs in kids, schools, family, and community. CIS of Tacoma is one of 194 local affiliates serving kids in 27 states in more than 3,250 educational sites. CIS is the nation's largest dropout prevention organization.

CIS Mission Statement: To champion the connection of needed community resources with schools to help young people successfully learn, stay in school and prepare for life.

By bringing caring adults into the schools to address children's unmet needs, CIS provides the link between educators and the community. The result: teachers are free to teach, and students - many in jeopardy of dropping out - have the opportunity to focus on learning.
